This may be stupid, but I stayed in DC for a minute, I'm originally
from Texas, and I was so impressed with the blackness and culture in DC. I was
blown away when I frist heard GO-GO music(I believe it was Junk Yard), I never
heard anything like it before, see down here we listen to this music called
Screw and I can't get in to that s***. I have tried to find GO-Go here in
Houston and it just don't exsist, and I tried to hip these BAMA's to it, but
they just laugh at me, but I think you all should put some more websites up
because it is really hard to find Go-Go music and capture the true essece of
DC that I caught. I'm planning to come back and visit and I can't wait.

I am a first generation American of Nigerian descent.
I came up in P.G. County and on Go-Go music. I can really respect that
Go-Go is trying to collectivize and groom a conscious. I have been
trying to tell people that this is what is needed to put the D.C. Metro area
on the map, build greater unity, and, inevitably, move this nation. I'm
down for whatever yall are trying to do. Just holla at ya boy.
Peace

I've lived in the D.C. area for all my life and go-go is
the most unique type of music I ever heard. Listening to the percussionists
play sends a cool vibe up my spine that just makes me want to be a part of the
action. Every chance I get to play the timbales or the congos I just think of
the baddest pocket beat I know and just rip it. The reason I'm writing to you
guys is beacause I want to know everything there is to be a part of a go-go
band. Maybe there is a band that need people to play. In any case, I just want
to be a part of the go-go music industry. I believe I have what it takes which
is rythm and determination. Consistency is also a factor I have within, which
would probably help at practice. Anyways, please write back and help a spanish
brother out.

First of all I would like to think yall for putting a web site up so that
I can keep in contact with whats going on with gogo. I moved up
there for about a year and half from Lynchburg Va. and I miss it like crazy, the
culture it self. I grew to love gogo and thats one of the reasons why I'm
moving back up there in August just to be around the music and culture cause
where I am now in Lynchburg Va. aint nothing like what's up there. They still on
that old stuff but I got to admit they be rockin. Yall need to play down
here so that they can really feel it. They love it just as much as the
metro area does.

I do not know if this message will even matter to anyone but in my
heart I felt that I needed to send it. I am a 31 year old "white" female, what
ever that means. My family heritage consist of American Indian, Irish, German
and a few others that I probably don't even know about. So the technical term
"white" only applies due to the skin tone God gave me. I was reading the
information you have on Emmett Till at DCGOGO.COM after reading your page, my
heart wrenched at the facts surrounding the demise of that young boy and the
suffering of his mother and family. It sickened me to think that our laws
allowed those men to be set free and then make money off of a book that they
later published admitting to the crime! I do know that in the end they will
pay for their crime when they stand before God and he is their judge!
Thank you DCGOGO for telling the world about Emmett Till

Your statement about the internet being an African invention is
reminiscent of Al Gore's claim to having invented it. You would have been more
accurate to have said that the techninque of scrolling, not the development of
the internet as the heading lays claim to. Why don't we find any information
about El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm X)? He is one of the most misunderstood
leaders of the latter half of the 20th Century, by whites and blacks. His vision
of a world without racial injustice is one that should still be carried on. Who
would we consider to be the leader in America for African-American Civil Rights
today? Not Farrakhan, and not Jackson. Any ideas?

Hey:
Congratulations first and foremost! I heard about DCGOGO.COM on
the radio station (GO GO Rudy's Sunday night show). It's amazing how far
GO GO has come. This web site is an accomplishment of a culture! I
am in the process of developing a non-profit magazine aimed at 18 and under
urban kids. GO GO Music and Computers are two of the topics that I will
explore. I would like to further discuss my plans with you when you have
time. Keep up the good work.

where they are, who to talk to etc. Please if you can help me or email
me with your phone number or address and I'll contact you!! I hope that
it is possible.

I find your website to be both compelling and
informative. It's great to view a site filled with such conciousness
about our people and our history. I look forward to shopping on your site in
the near future and will pass the website address on to my friends here on the
West Coast.
